The Feast of Pentecost, May 24th, 2015

The 50 Days of Easter crescendo on the second most important Feast of the Christian Year, the Feast of Pentecost, also called Whitsunday. On this Day we celebrate the fiery arrival of God’s Holy Spirit onto the gathered disciples, mystically empowering them for the continuing work of discipleship in the world.

Most of the Christian Year…”Ordinary Time”…is marked as an extended “Season of Pentecost” alluding to our ongoing dependence upon the Spirit of God in the formation of individual and Church character, in rising to our vocations, and in the extension of the Good News of Jesus to a world where Christ’s Light is much needed.

Wishing you God’s own fire!
