Lenten Course 2014 - Sunday afternoons in Lent
LENTEN COURSE 2014 - Sunday Afternoons in Lent from 4:30pm – 6pm   HOW SHALL WE THEN LIVE? Constancy, Change, and the Witness of the Church The Church witnesses to enduring truths in every age and culture, and every age and culture affects the form of those enduring truths. Certain key themes have emerged as central to Christian vision and human thriving. Beginning with the Book of Acts, the writings of St. Paul, and other early Christian documents, we will identify themes at the core of the Christian Vision, and how these ideas have been re-examined and given fresh articulation  through the millennia, with reference also to the English Reformation and the work of the Episcopal Church in the emerging 21st Century. This class will be taught by both clergy, with a simple Lenten Supper served at 6pm for those who wish to remain for further conversation and fellowship.   KNOWING GOD: March 9th Identity & Salvation Personal Piety & Public Worship The Structure of Belief   COMMON LIFE: March 16th Structuring Community Sources of Authority American Individualis   ORDERING RELATIONSHIPS: March 23rd The Single State The Married State Morality The Formation of Children Wayfaring Perfection   SOCIAL OBLIGATION: March 30th The Poor The Church The Civic Sphere Local & Global Mission   CORE VALUES & CONTEMPORARY WITNESS: April 6th The Episcopalian Way Personal Identity Church & Collaborative Identity
