  • Danielle Patterson Joins Youth Ministry Team
    Thursday, September 05, 2013

The Rector is pleased to announce, together with the Youth Advocacy Team chaired by John Quinn, the addition to our Youth Ministry Team of an exceptional young woman, Danielle Patterson. Danielle will join Josh Keaney in encouraging Youth Ministry in and through St. Edmund’s Parish, with particular focus on Middle School aged students. Danielle introduces herself below, and we trust you to offer her a Howlingly Warm St. Edmund’s welcome!

Danielle PattersonI grew up in the sleepy beach town of New Smyrna Beach, Florida where my family still lives. I have two baby sisters (who are the cutest little things in the world!) and an older brother. I left the hurricanes and alligators and moved to California to attend APU and am now living in Azusa where I have three roommates, a car named Oliver, and a fish called Glitter. I am entering my third year of school and am majoring in Social Work and have two minors in Christian Ministries and Spanish. I also work at the Neighborhood Homework House in Azusa where I am the Teen Program Assistant.

I love tennis, yoga, and anything creative or competitive. I have a special place in my heart for non-fiction, sweet tea, and ice cream – preferably all at once. One of my favorite things to do is to travel. This last semester I studied abroad in the UK and attended Oxford University. Afterwards, I spent a month backpacking Europe and fell in love with the sights, sounds, and tastes of all the different cultures that are so close together. I volunteer with APU’s Mexico Outreach and have left a huge piece of my heart south of the border. My goal is to hit every continent before I am 26 and this winter I hope to be going to South America.

Over the summer I interned at a church in a rural community in Montrose, Colorado working with the youth. It was an incredible experience and I learned a lot – both about nature and about ministry. I am excited to be back in SoCal and to get to know the students and families of St. Ed’s!
