Fr. George with Fr. Luis Serrano. They are talking in the "Green Room," where Fr. Luis met with Oscar Romero and other religious leaders during the war. They met in this room every week for 12 years. Romero was ultimately assassinated, and Fr. Luis and others were imprisoned for helping the poor, which was perceived by the government as aiding the leftists.

A nun who lives at on the hospital grounds gave us a detailed account of Romero's ministry at the hospital. Romero turned away the palace for the archbishop to instead live in a tiny apartment on these grounds.
